Gizem Odill

Gizem is a Kempner Research Fellow. Her work bridges systems neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and robotics to understand the principles underlying adaptive behavior in biological systems. She is particularly interested in how insights from biology can inform the design of more flexible and autonomous embodied agents.

She earned her PhD from EPFL, where she developed computational models of the fruit fly to study motor control by combining behavioral data, physics-based simulations, and neural networks. Outside the lab, Gizem enjoys outdoor sports and cinema.
